I find this interesting, especially considering they’re not limiting availability of anything. ALL content will be available to free players.

Their currency system also sounds a lot like the GW2 model in that players can buy the ‘real money’ currency REX and then sell it to players in-game for gold.

Let’s do the TL;DR first. This game’s terrible but if you’re really into TWD, you’ll probably enjoy it.

Now i’m going to be wordy because that’s just how I roll. I was thoroughly excited to play this game because I’m not only a WD fan but a zombie nerd to boot. I figured they really couldn’t go wrong with this, and thought we’d see something on a bigger scale than the critically acclaimed Episodes released by Tell-Tale Games. I mean, you get to play as fucking Daryl. That HAS to be awesome, right? Surely you can’t fuck this up Activision.

Well, they did. I honestly don’t even know where to start. Let’s start with some basics. Graphically this game isn’t nearly on par with anything released in the last 5 years. It’s not terrible, but the textures are just really shit quality and never really look the part. During one of the ‘missions’ I was seemingly overwhelmed by a hoarde of zombies that ALL looked identical. Every one of them. The same basic models are used throughout. I don’t think I saw a single ethnic zombie, just various caucasians. I’m sorry but where is this game taking place? Because it’s certainly not in the deep south, and definitely not in the vicinity of Atlanta which has way more diversity than portrayed.

The mechanics are the game are extremely clunky and never really make sense. I failed to see the point of sending out one of my ‘survivors’ to get anything because there’s so much shit thrown at you that you never really have a need to send them scavenging. Of course, I sent them out anyways because lolgamemechanics. I think I had maybe one of the 5 or so you acquire who actually returned with something. The rest died. I felt like they ‘should’ be doing something, but their value was never made evident.

Another pointless mechanic was fuel. Guess what happens if you run out of fuel guys? The game spawns a mini mission where it’s thrown at you in heaps. I ran out of gas once and I ALWAYS took the back roads which costs more fuel. There was no management. I was never forced into a tough decision about it. I never really even had to think about it. It was just one more mechanic in a very hollow game.

Combat is laughable. No, I literally mean laughable. I laughed at my screen.

See this guy? When you kill a zombie, they literally just fall to the ground. Stick straight, and fall straight back. No physics. Nothing. It needs video to show how truly bad it is, but I really don’t care that much about this game to go through the trouble. Also, fun fact: Apparently you can kill a zombie by punching it in the mouth 4 times. You see, your default weapon is a Hunting Knife. and instead of doing something logical, like hitting them with the pointy end, you slash at them. But the animation is so bad it looks like you’re punching them. What would slashing a zombie do, anyway? Oh noes, a cut on my face, let me run and get a band-aide.

The game provides multiple weapon types for you to use, and there’s an execution feature. Problem. When I’m wielding a hammer and go to execute a zombie, it defaults back to the hunting knife. Just magically out of nowhere, a hunting knife appears. I was literally JUST looking at my hands and can SEE the hammer in it. Where the fuck is this magic knife coming from?

I used the guns only a few very select times. In fact, outside of when the game forces you to use one, I can only recall one moment where I broke out a semi-automatic rifle and destroyed some shit. Zombies have really good hearing, and any shot in any map seems to cause every single zombie in the entire zone to move towards you. Thus, it’s kinda dumb to ever use a gun. I guess that’s realistic but shit it got really boring using the hunting knife the entire game. I’m looking to have fun here, people.

The game also likes to magically create zombies out of thin air. Let’s say you spend 10 minutes painstakingly clearing an entire building. I don’t know why you’d do it, but you did. You walk back through a door to admire your handywork and rawr, a fucking zombie pops out of their time machine and tries to bite your face. Look I know it’s a game and everything technically comes from nothing, but come the fuck on. You’re so desperate for thrills in your game that you have to spawn shit where it logically shouldn’t even be? Cutscenes also seem to ‘reset’ rooms and cause new shit to spawn, which again, makes no sense.

This game does two things well. One is it’s fully voiced by Norman Reedus, aka the baddest motherfucker ever. Two, the zombie sounds are good. That’s literally how bad this game is, to where you hear the sound of a zombie and think ‘damn that’s well done’.

I would only recommend this game for hardcore zombie nerds and/or Walking Dead fans. If you’re neither of those things, you have no business ever going near this shithole of a game. It’s a disgrace that this thing was released. But I guess that’s what happens when, instead of trying to make a quality game, you just try to capitalize on name recognition and hope suckers buy it. This is a money grab, folks. Nothing more.

A lot of you know the specifics of Citri’s situation. She has reached a point now where she needs immediate help.

Citri has been living in an unhealthy, unsafe environment for too long. She needs to be out of that house within 3 weeks, and she needs help getting out of there and into a temporary living situation where she can be safe. She does not have family who can help her financially in any way. I am trying to raise money from friends and anyone else who is willing to help.

Citri is the kindest, sweetest, funniest, most giving and generous person that I know. She is my dearest friend and I know that so many of you also care deeply about her. For someone who is so willing to emotionally support any of her friends, it is hard for her to ask for help.

Please give anything you can to help- even $10.

All funds will go straight from me to Citri to help with:

- moving costs: she needs to rent a moving truck, packing materials, etc.

- gas.

- food

- car repairs. Her car recently broke down again, and she needs the funds to pay for repairs.

- a phone. citri is currently without a phone. We are hoping she can get a go-phone for now.

Every dollar that is given will have a direct and positive impact on her situation. It is very important for her physical, emotional, and mental safety that she can get out of her current environment.

On my end, I am doing everything within my power during the next year to move to a home where she can live with me. I currently live in a very small apartment and have no room to accommodate her or her kitty Marilla, nor do we have the means to fund a cross-country move for either of us. It is my hope to have a home for us by summer of 2014.

Im gonna see if there’s anything I can do. It won’t be much but surely I can muster a little. I miss her so much.

Oh Guild Bounties. Was it right after the JP race? Wish I was there :’( The JP race was around 3AM for me, but I didn’t know Guild Bounties will also happen at the same day. Wish I woke up to attend it. :<

Yeah we did them right after the JP race because so many people were around.

We’re going to try and work out a schedule that offers the most opportunity for all our members. We’ll likely alternate doing them during peak European times one day and peak US times the next.

Hopefully you can make the next one! It was really a lot of fun.
